- A debt security that is separated into two or more distinct debt instruments, each with unique terms, issued by separate trusts that purchase equipment that is then leased to the entity. The revenue stream of the leased asset services the debt. When the trusts retire or otherwise satisfy the certificates, title to the asset will generally pass to the lessee. This form of financing, for example, is commonly used by, but not limited to, airlines and railroads for the purchase of aircraft or rolling stock, respectively.
